Dr. Waqar opened Farmington Valley Dermatology in 2014 to meet the demand for dermatology in the Farmington Valley - Greater Hartford area. She previously worked since late 2012 at the Massachusetts and Rhode Island offices of an independent dermatology practice. She started her dermatology career in 2011 at a large regional multi-specialty group in Worcester, MA. She relocated to Massachusetts after completing a six-year dual internal medicine/dermatology residency in south Florida in 2011.
Dr. Waqar has a special interest in dermatopathology; managing cutaneous lymphomas and autoimmune skin diseases; skin cancer surgery. During residency, she studied complex autoimmune connective tissue diseases and autoimmune blistering diseases under Dr. Francisco Kerdel, MD (University of Miami, FL); cutaneous T-cell lymphoma under the late Dr. Marie-France Demierre, MD (Boston University, MA); dermatopathology of melanoma at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (NYC).
Dr. Waqar is Board Certified in Dermatology and Internal Medicine. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology. She is a member of the American Society of Dermatologic Surgeons, the Women's Dermatologic Society, and the Connecticut Dermatology & Dermatologic Surgery Society.
Anja is a Physician Assistant who trained in New York City at Pace University/Lenox Hill Hospital in 2006. She graduated in 2008 and started her career at Lenox Hill Hospital. She and her husband relocated to Connecticut in 2014 and is currently affiliated with Hartford Hospital.
At FVDS, Anja divides her time between general dermatology and non-surgical cosmetic procedures. She specializes in laser treatments using our Candela CO2RE ablative laser and multi-faceted Candela Nordlys laser.
She is a member of the Society for Dermatology Physician Assistants. She currently lives in Simsbury with her husband and three young children.
Kerriann Welch is a Certified Physician Assistant who trained in New York City at Pace University - Lenox Hill Hospital in 2016. She graduated in 2018 with a Masters in Physician Assistant Studies and decided to return to Connecticut. Kerriann started her career at a highly respected dermatology practice near Springfield, MA where she received specialized training and developed her expertise in medical dermatology and hair loss conditions.
At Farmington Valley Dermatology, Kerriann will be offering consultations for all General Dermatology concerns, including Acne, Rosacea, Eczema, Psoriasis, Autoimmune Cutaneous Conditions, medical disorders of Hair & Nails, and Pediatric Dermatology, as well Skin Cancer Screenings.
Kerriann is a member of the Society of Dermatology PAs and Connecticut Academy of PAs.
Carissa Andrews is a Medical Aesthetician holding cosmetic licensures in both Connecticut and Massachusetts. Since graduating in 2002 from Elizabeth Grady’s School of Esthetics in Medford Massachusetts, she has worked in day spas, five diamond resorts, medical spas, and surgical practices over the course of her career. She specializes in
HydraFacial, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, dermaplaning, extractions, and skin care knowledge.
Before joining FVDS, she expanded her skill set as a Laser Technician in Massachusetts. Carissa attends educational training and conferences annually to provide her patients with the most up to date information. She prides herself on taking the time to customize each treatment to fit the needs and concerns of every patient she treats.
