Farmington Valley Dermatology and Surgery, LLC was established in Avon, CT in August 2014 to serve the medical and cosmetic dermatology needs of Farmington Valley area. Our mission is to provide quality, effective, and compassionate care to children, adults, and seniors.

Farmington Valley Dermatology is conveniently located on Route 202 (CT-10), near Route 44, in Avon, CT. Our building is at south edge of Riverdale Farms, at the same entrance as Avon Plumbing & Heating (Building 1). We are next door to the Hartford Hospital Avon Family Wellness Center (home to HealthTrax fitness, Quest Labs, Hartford Hospital primary care and rehabilitation, Starling Physicians, Jefferson Radiology, dentists, eye doctors).
We are close to the towns of Canton, Simsbury, Bloomfield, West Hartford, Hartford, Farmington, New Hartford, Torrington, Granby, Suffield, Windsor, South Windsor, East Hartford, Manchester, Glastonbury, Wethersfield, New Britain, Plainville, Bristol, Newington.
We have extended office hours to 7pm on many nights.

Dr. Waqar opened Farmington Valley Dermatology in 2014 to meet the demand for dermatology in the Farmington Valley - Greater Hartford area. She previously worked since late 2012 at the Massachusetts and Rhode Island offices of an independent dermatology practice. She started her dermatology career in 2011 at a large regional multi-specialty group in Worcester, MA. She relocated to Massachusetts after completing a six-year dual internal medicine/dermatology residency in south Florida in 2011.
Dr. Waqar has a special interest in dermatopathology; managing cutaneous lymphomas and autoimmune skin diseases; skin cancer surgery. During residency, she studied complex autoimmune connective tissue diseases and autoimmune blistering diseases under Dr. Francisco Kerdel, MD (University of Miami, FL); cutaneous T-cell lymphoma under the late Dr. Marie-France Demierre, MD (Boston University, MA); dermatopathology of melanoma at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (NYC).
Dr. Waqar is Board Certified in Dermatology and Internal Medicine. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology. She is a member of the American Society of Dermatologic Surgeons, the Women's Dermatologic Society, and the Connecticut Dermatology & Dermatologic Surgery Society.
Gail Lau, APRN joined Farmington Valley Dermatology in June 2015. She has 15 years experience in general dermatology in the greater Hartford area. As a nurse practitioner, Gail can independently assess, diagnose, and treat skin conditions in patients of all ages. Gail performs thorough skin cancer screenings, and diagnoses and treats common skin cancers. Patients like her approachability, great medical knowledge and caring manner.
Gail completed her Master’s of Science in Nursing/Family Nurse Practitioner in 2001. She is licensed in the State of CT.
Outside of work, Gail is a busy mother to her four children and her dog.
Suzanne Naples, BSN, is FVDS's aesthetic nurse specializing in the many non-surgical cosmetic procedures available at FVDS. She integrates injectables, laser, and medical-grade skin care to rejuvenate her patient's skin. Suzanne continually educates herself on the latest aesthetic techniques and regularly attends hands-on training seminars.
Before joining FVDS in June 2017, Suzanne worked as an aesthetic nurse for 5 years in plastic surgery practices and medical spas on the Connecticut shoreline and Upper East Side of Manhattan, New York City. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Connecticut and is currently matriculating in a Doctor of Nursing Practice program at Quinnipiac University. She is licensed in Connecticut and New York.
Suzanne enjoys spending time with her husband and young infant son.
