CRYOTHERAPY (FREEZING)

Apply Vaseline or Aquaphor to the spots that were treated today and continue to apply for the next 4 – 5 days. Blisters may appear at the treatment site, which is NORMAL; leave the blisters alone unless they becomes painful. If painful, pop the blister and cover it with a bandage.

BIOPSY (SHAVE)

For the first 24 hours, leave the dressing/bandage on and avoid showering. Before showering, remove the dressing/bandage and gently wash site with soap and water. Pat the area, dry then apply Vaseline or Aquaphor and cover with a bandage. Repeat for 5-7 days.

BIOPSY (PUNCH) – SUTURES

If you have stitches from a biopsy, cleanse the area daily. Apply Vaseline or Aquaphor and cover with a dressing or bandage until stitches are removed. If you have steristrips, leave them in place until suture removal date. You may shower after 24 hours; be gentle with a towel when drying.

ED&C (“ELECTRODESSICATION & CURETTAGE”, SCRAPE AND BURN)

Leave the dressing on for 24 hours and avoid showering for at least 24hrs. Prior to showering, remove the dressing and let soapy water run over the wound. Apply Vaseline or Aquaphor followed by a bandage. The wound may need to be kept covered for at least 7-10 days, make sure dressing is changed DAILY.

    • Yellowish-green drainage
    • Rapid redness that develops surrounding the wound and spreads outward
    • Fever, chills, or exquisite pain to touch that surrounds the wound.
